Example #2 - Collected Poem & Analysis

Pole Vaulting: Thoughts of a Mental Jumping Idiot - By Skyler

Thousand of thoughts, standing there finding a grip
Don’t slow down, Plant high, Touch your feet to the sky!
Everything that was said over and over and over again
Do everything right, ..........

My Analysis:

I selected this poem because the title appealed to me.  I could picture an idiot jumping!

It is a seven line poem consisting of one verse.

There is no defined rhyme scheme.

There are several examples of enjambment as the idea on lines 1, 3 and 5 continue onto the next line.

"Thousand of thoughts" is an example of alliteration due to the repeating "th" sounds.
